Materials
At all Pegatron's sites, packaging materials used for raw materials are collected and returned to the supplier for reuse.

In accordance with international guidelines and standards such as the European Union RoHS and WEEE directives, Pegatron has established the 'PUreGMS HSF Technical Standard - SPT-00001' that clearly defines substances that are banned. The PUreGMS Technical Standard also specifies plans and schedules for phase-out and reduction of substances as well as any control exemptions. This technical standard is based on the following three principles:
a) Prevent controlled substances from being used in PUreGMS products
b) Abide by national and international laws
c) Protect the global environment and reduce the impact on ecological systems.

Hazardous Chemical Management
The chemical substances used in our operations are mostly soldering paste, soldering wire, soldering bar and solvent, such as IPA and alcohol, etc. Pegatron has set up operating standards for these chemicals to ensure that they are used in such a way as to avoid harm to the environment or to employees. All chemical substances are stored and handled in accordance with the information in Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

The hazardous chemical substances used for Pegatron products are analyzed in the Pegatron laboratory in accordance with international environmental restriction requirements. All restricted and banned hazardous chemical substances are being controlled. Raw material purchasing is executed through a component approval process and incoming material quality control. All personnel working with hazardous substances have received proper training courses and have passed the relevant examinations. Emergency response plans and related procedures have been developed and implemented along with appropriate hazardous chemical management procedures

*Note: for more information on controlled hazardous chemicals, please see Hazardous Material Management.

Future Objectives
Developing new packaging materials which meet environmental protection requirements will be our first priority. We are also working to achieve packaging layer quantities that meet all environmental requirements. We continue to strive to reach ever more stringent waste reduction targets.
