Climate Change
The main manufacturing process in Pegatron is assembly. Most other work is in an office setting. Therefore, the pollution produced by Pegatron is relatively lower than that of companies in other industries. However, due to global climate change and our responsibility and commitment to environmental protection, Pegatron established the "Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Project" in 2008.
GHG Reduction Policy
Pegatron has considered the concept of GHG reduction for the design and the manufacturing stages. Furthermore, Pegatron has reached this goal by the enhancement of the efficiency in energy conservation and the optimal evaluation for energy consumption and cost in transportation.

GHG Inventory and Reduction Project
The GHG inventory and management plan verifies all possible emission sources in each site. In addition, Pegatron identifies the emission sources, and calculates the quantity and emission records to report the inventory result. We are currently setting up a reduction plan and target to reduce the environmental impacts in the business, manufacturing and staff sectors to take the responsibility for global protection.

Our Preliminary Objective:
Our preliminary objective is to investigate and document the six major GHGs (CO2, CH4, N2O, HFC, PFC, SF6) as well as the CO2 equivalent generated from our manufacturing activities, operational activities and transportation impacts by Pegatron both in the movement of the products and employees.

Manufacturing:
Pegatron embodies the goal of continuous improvement and conducts energy efficiency performance reviews of production equipment annually. Equipment upgrades will be performed to control emissions and reduce energy use as needed.

Reduction Plan:
Pegatron reviews the energy and power efficiency in production equipment annually and conducts many energy saving initiatives to reduce electricity and energy consumption for transportation and delivery.
Pegatron's GHG Emissions Reduction Plan is currently under development. The plan includes:
  • Gathering baseline data on GHG emissions in manufacturing.
  • Establishing metrics such as amount of carbon emitted per unit of energy used, and metric tons of CO2 equivalent.
  • Researching and implementing changes to reduce carbon emissions, including measuring and marking milestones.
  • Investigating the feasibility for the use of economical and renewable resources, including wind power, biomass use, solar photovoltaic or other viable renewable energy sources.
