| About PUreCSR |
The aim of the Corporate Social Responsibility management system is to formulate an environmental and occupational health and safety policy, and to implement this throughout the company. On May 18, 2010, Pegatron board of directors unanimously approved to appropriate a sum within 0.5% of net income every year for the purpose of charity and in an act to not only to fulfill our corporate social responsibility but also to realize our vision by making continuous contribution to both society and environment as a whole. It is our aim to initiate the framework of charity from the company, to local community and further extend to island wide and ultimately worldwide. During the process, our employees will also have the distinct opportunities to engage in charitable work and community service through the company.
Pegatron has achieved ISO 14001 environment management system certification, OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety management system certification and non-use of the ozone depleting substances (ODC) certification. Pegatron also designs, develops and promotes environmentally friendly products, which are more able to be recycled in order to meet WEEE and RoHS international environment protection regulations. Our management systems associated with our products are discussed in this section. |

| Environmental Aspects and OH&S Hazard Identification |
| 1. Legal and Customer Requirements |
Pegatron has established and maintained management procedures for identifying and recording legal and customer requirements, which will be updated periodically, and we are committed to communicating these updates to our employees and other stakeholders.
2. Environmental Aspects and Hazard Identification
|
 |
| Possible environmental impacts are illustrated in the diagram above. For example, a primary cause of air pollution at Pegatron's manufacturing sites comes from soldering, in which metal fumes and organic vapors are produced. To help the environment, Pegatron has made an effort to extract and treat the pollutants and the company continuously upgrades the machinery of production to meet the national environmental regulations. Further details on managing key environmental impacts and our performance in these areas are discussed in the following sections.
|
 |
| Production activities with significant risks are shown in the figure above. Hazard prevention measures include safety design, health & safety training, routine inspection & maintenance of equipments, emergency response planning & training, chemical management, employee health examination & management, personal protective equipment, standard operating procedures and ergonomic improvement programs. The factors mentioned above are used to ensure that all employees are working in safest possible work environment. |
| |
| 3. Competence, Training and Awareness |
| We are committed to all employees having the relevant training and/or experience to enable them to conduct their work with competence. We also make sure our employees are aware of the actual or potential risks of their work activities. We also strive to ensure that all employees are aware of their roles and responsibilities in achieving conformance to PUreCSR policy and procedures, and to the requirements of PUreCSR management system, including their emergency response abilities. |
| |
| 4. Communication and Feedback |
| Pegatron uses both internal and external means to communicate between management, employees and external stakeholders to ensure that everyone understands Pegatron's PUreCSR. For example, there are suggestion boxes located in each site for employees to provide suggestions or raise issues. |
| |
| 5. Audit |
| We have established an internal "PUreCSR Audit" program that assesses the status of compliance with Pegatron's PUreCSR requirements and the feasibility and efficiency of its implementation of the PUreCSR. Pegatron trains its internal auditors so they possess the necessary qualifications to perform these audits. These audits are complements to the external assessments that are conducted as part of maintaining our ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 certifications. |
| |
| 6. Performance Measurement and Monitoring |
We use qualitative and quantitative measures (including KPIs and targets) to monitor the effectiveness of our system implementation and our performance. Specific targets are discussed in the relevant sections below. Targets for environmental, health and safety performance are established at a site level. Assessing performances against these targets has primarily occurred on a site-by-site basis, and selected elements of site level performance data are presented in the following sections. Pegatron is currently in the process of establishing a mechanism for the integration of displaying the environmental, health and safety data to show the performance across the whole company in the future. |
